Groooooaaannnnn....

As usual the period of unusually rational exuberance evident in my last post has given way to the normality of some constantly nagging financial bullshit that has to be dealt with.

Although we have been out of Dubai for a month now we still haven't got our 5000DHS security deposit back nor the last advance rent cheque. We have pleasantly visited the office, phoned numerous times as is the norm here in the absence of any of those promised calls back, but still no cheque. There are no outstanding issues with the flat we vacated and the cast iron evidence is that the flat has already been rented out to someone else.... or so our sources tell us.

So what to do. We called what we thought was the head office only to discover that it the same office we are already dealing with. Everyone there we speak to says it is the responsibility of the man who told us he was waiting for 'head office' to a) inspect the vacated flat ... er ... presumably done before the new tenants moved in? and b) to prepare the cheque. Incidentally this man has now stopped answering our calls.

Have posted question about this on UAE community blog but it is one of those UAE things that I can never get used to... that constant feeling of slight nausea because you know that however good things seem to have got there is always another fucking battle just around the corner.

  4. Hi jan
the two month penalty is standard and in the contract so you can't avoid that. We paid the 2 months and a little more because we gave notice to quit a few days under two months! We got the deposit back but it did took a lot of pressure / phone calls / visits etc. We dealt directly with their office in the Canon Building in Bur Dubai. Hope you get it sorted.

  5. Hi, I too have issues with this real estate company. I would like to exit the contract but there is no answer at their office no (04 3965757).

Do you have any other number?
Do you know the location of their office?
Do you know who the key decision maker is there?

Your help would be much appreciated.

  6. Hi

That's the number I have too so must be the same office. It's in Bur Dubai on the 4th floor of the Canon Building (so named cos it has a huge Canon neon sign on top)It's just off Musallah Rd / Fuheidi Roundabout. Kind of opposite Bastakiya and to the right. Can't remember the name of the offcie manager there tho sorry!

  8. Hi,

I've just signed a lease contract with Sharafi Real Estate, for a flat in their building Rose 6. Are they an OK company in everything apart from your incident with the security deposit? Are the OK with maintenance works etc...

    Thanks a lot

  9. SHARAFI REAL ESTATE COMPANY IS THE WORST OF ALL REAL ESTATE COMPANIES IN DUBAI.

THEIR SECURITY GUARDS AND STAFF ARE NO GOOD. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE COURTSEY AND MANNERS TO TALK WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS.

FOR ANY MAINTENANCE PROBLEM YOU NEED TO CALL THE HEAD OFFICE - TWO GUYS BY THE NAME OF IMITAZ AND MUZAMIL RUN THE SHOW AND THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE.

I HAVE ONE YEAR TO GO ON MY CONTRACT WITH THEIR ROSE 6 BUILDING IN TECOM. WAITING FOR THIS PERIOD TO BE OVER AND LIVE PEACFEULLY FATER THAT.
